Do you think that a culture is influenced by its art or that art is influenced by a culture?

I think it depends on the culture. Culture influences people's behaviors, thoughts, and lifestyles. So it's possible an artist can either get an image or idea from within him or herself, or an artist can either recreate or react against culture.

I think true art is not influenced by either.  The artist creates from within.  He draws  upon  his innermost  feelings and  puts that to paper or whatever media  he is working in.
