The world is so enormous, you would think some of this possibly could have been true at one point! Such as the loch ness monster, witches, mermaids, vampires, some of this had to have been true, right?

  1. I once wrote a paper for an anthropology 101 class in which I said maybe all those references in european fairy tales to ogres and trolls were references to neanderthals.  They died out tens of thousands of years ago, but maybe the memory of them managed to survive in some kind of oral tradition for all that time.

And I got an A.  I don't think he bought it though.

  2. i dont know but i love stories and creatures especialy mermaids.. im sure somewhere in this infinite universe there are creautre that might look like what we call mermaids.

  3. This is gonna take a while for an answer so bear with me please. Most of those myths were based on some kind of creature and stories past down from one gen to another. I believe that some of the MYTHS of today are a case of mistaken identity. The dragons of China were prob based on dinosaurs of some sort. Loch Ness prob a pleasiosaur or large sturgein or something. Vampires not to sure about. As far as the mermaids go, its theorized that it was mistaken identity. Sailors saw a billibong or a manatee and thought it resembled a woman. You have to remember that they were out to sea for a long time without any "attention". Cyclops' were thought of prob because people came across an elephant graveyard and didnt know what it was so they said it was a cyclops. Elephants have a big hole in center front of their skull which is where the trunk is and it looked like an eyesocket to them. I hoped this helped and wasnt too long winded. I think some are true, but I also think its peoples imagination.

  4. Yep.  Some.

  5. No, they would have found some trace of evidance that supported this by now. Look they can trace humans back to monkeys and all this silly stuff... i highly doubt this would ever happen.

  6. Yes apparently mermaids, centaurs etc were true. According to Edgar Cayce (one of the most accurate and most renowned psychics - died in 1944). When souls first came to earth or pushed themselves into matter - which was forbidden to them - they were still divine children able to create and they created multiple life forms amongst those were mermaids, giants, dwarfs, centaurs and unicorns, pegasus......

They eventually or we eventually forgot who or what we were (divine children) and lost that ability.

Go to www.edgarcayce.org and find their toll free number and ask them for some info or email them. I know he had talked about it but I cannot find it on the site but the info they have is quite interesting.

  7. Loch Ness Monster- Yes, it was a dinosaur

    The rest- No

  8. The romantic in all of us wants it to be true, that in some far away mystic time there were real mermaids and fairy's vampires unicorns and so on and I am going to say yes it is true. Who is going to prove me wrong. Many of our tales do have a real reason.Any thing is possible.

  9. I guess the theory is that the mermaids actually was sea creatures, which seamen in the old days thought were half human. And there are also theories about cyclops and griffins being based on remains of extinct animals.

  10. I actually agree with you on this, some people believe that these creatures lived before we did, there are such things as dragons, (komodo) so why cant there be other things right? Witches are real. just not fairytale ones. Spells are real, but things just dont go hopping around like cinderellas god fairy.
