  1. Just as in every profession, there is quality and there is absence of it. To ask what time someone received notice, in order to solve an important controversy, is not the same as asking someone how they felt when tragedy struck.

  2. It's the nature of the beast. Just kidding. Journalists have to be nosy to gather the facts they need to make a story. A quote from one of the Superman movies comes to mind. A great reporter doesn't get great stories, a great reporter makes them great or something to that effect. It's not a bad thing to be a nosy journalist. What's bad is when a journalist twists the truth around if they can't get the facts they want just to get a story published. I do sincerely hope that you know the difference. I'm somewhat of a writer myself and have learned much more from individuals such as yourself here on Y!A and I'm not a nosy reporter just a highly imaginative individual.

  3. Obviously the media has its pests, but the same quality which is annoying to celebrities with new babies also uncovers corporate crimes and other injustices. And there are of course journalists who do use a little tact

  4. You have to be a little nosy. As Jimmy Breslin once said, they aren't covering flower shows most of the time.

That said, knowing when to back off is a valuable skill. Might get a better story that way.
