  1. Never going to happen.  NASCAR is more competitive than ever.  Back then NASCAR ran 60+ races a year too.  You would have to be at the top of your game for decades.  Even Jeff Gordon is only in the 80s and he has been one of the top drivers since the mid 90s.

  2. sure if they start racing at around ten years old and stay until they are around eighty, it could happen

  3. It will be tough, but I think one day, that someone might just do that.

I hope I am around to see it, that will be a sight to see...

  4. Nope, not going to happen.  I said this in another answer a while back...Jimmie Johnson (one of this era's best) won't make it to Dale Sr's total wins...in my opinion.  It's just too, too competitive anymore.

  5. Probably not

  6. Not running just 1 race a week.Petty was racing when NASCAR ran 2 to 3 events a week. The 1/4 mile bullrings or the 1/3 mile dirt.Today no way to match the numbers from Petty.

  7. No ! the only one who is close if Jeff Gordon. But he has not been winning like he use to.  King richard will never be topped.

  8. No, it will never happen. For one, they only race once a week now instead of two and three times. The cars are more even now with the COToday as NASCAR wanted parity brought in. I don't believe NASCAR wanted any drivers to win ten or more races in a single season. Look at how upset non fans of Jimmie and Jeff were last year. It came down to them for the win, and attendance dropped at the race tracks, which meant less merchandise sold etc. It's really a shame too when they change rules over and over then they should rewrite the record books in a way. Old Era champion, New Era champion etc., and so on with the dawning of new eras of NASCAR.

  9. J. Gordon probably won't make it to 100, so it's highly doubtful anyone will ever double that running only 36 times a year.

  10. It is probably the one record in major sports that will never be broken. Jeff Gordon has the potential to win over 100 and maybe surpass Pearson who has 105, but he'll never catch Petty.

  11. nope...NASCAR is too competitive nowadays for that to happen.

  12. not with how competitive the field is now go jr go!!!!

  13. I doubt it.

  14. possible but not probable -- after all records were made to be broken.

  15. No one. Richard Petty will live the rest of his life with the most wins. He can kick back and enjoy that!

  16. Absolutely no chance. The playing field is too even these days for anyone to achieve 200 wins.

  17. No,it will never happen. To many drivers and the competition is getting better. Petty Had a big sponsor back then who spent alot of money on him compared to the other teams budget.
