  1. No it will never happen.  NASCAR is way more competitive today and most drivers don't race nearly as long.

I'll go even further.  I don't think we will ever see more 4 championships again.  Gordon wont win another one.  Johnson with 2 and still being a younger guy is probably the best shot for that out of anyone in NASCAR today and I don't think he will get more than 3.

  2. No, the difference between good and bad cars is much closer than it was back when there were only a few cars on the lead lap.  That, plus the chase format will make it too tough to win THAT many championships again.  I think a couple drivers could win 4 or 5 championships and 6 under today's rules would be amazing.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  3. No Not as long as NASCAR keeps the COT and changes rules any time they want to equalize the teams.  If you really think about it  the set up of the car and amount of money a team has is more important than driver today.  Also, drivers with contracts are not as hungry as drivers who got their money by placing high

  4. I'll agree with you on the No, but for a different reason entirely.  NASCAR lately is all about change.  I don't think we're going to run the COT for 40 years, like we did the last car.  The guys behind NASCAR are constantly working to improve the sport, and keep anyone from getting an advantage.  Plus, it seems like drivers' careers are being shortened lately.  We have very few drivers over 40 right now; in the past, half the field would have been over 40!

If anyone does have a chance at winning more than seven, I'd bet on Jimmie Johnson.  But it ain't gonna happen.

  5. i think its posable. but driver don't drive as long anymore.

  6. why not?  Jeff G is on his way and someone has to win them...why not someone winning 7 plus?  I wouldn't want to see it because it would break the record of The King and The Intimidator.

I am hoping that DOESN'T happen but it COULD happen.

  7. As long as it is a competition, yes there will always be a chance that a driver could win 7+ championships. It doesn't matter how much NASCAR changes the cars...btw in the previous 59 years NASCAR let the cars get way too far away from stock in the late 1990's that something like the COT was necessary.

It is not out of the realm of possibility that Jeff Gordon could drive for at least another 10 years. In that time he could win 3 or more championships.

All of the younger drivers under 25 that could hook up with a great ride, Kyle Busch...Joey Logano spring to mind. They could race for 30 or more years.

  8. nope but there could be a new jeff gordon in the joey logano kid or kyle busch

  9. No...

    Too many good drivers...

  10. Not in our lifetime. The France family and NASCAR have made it an IROC competition. Pretty soon thirty drivers will be capable of winning. Right now, at least twenty-five are.

    Except Mikey.

  11. No, I don't think so.  Too many changes, too much competition out there.  If anyone came close, it would have to be Gordon. He still might have another one in him, but not gonna be 7.k

    *HEXX*

  12. Sure, why not. The are some really good drivers out there today

  13. I don't think so. First because of the number of really good drivers along with the chase format. The format makes it harder to win a championship even if you dominate the first 26 races. However, if anyone could do it Jeff Gordon might be able to due to the fact he already has 4.

  14. Very doubtful that any driver driving today in the Cup series will be able to pull that off. If the great Jeff Gordon can't get it done, I just have a tough time imagining that happening.  I see a sliver of hope if the stars & planets align this year & Jimmie Johnson wins his third straight that he has an outside (and I mean OUTSIDE) chance.  The reason I say this is that if the 48 team can get in the Chase, Jimmie & Chad are in a different league.

Now, I did mention that any driver driving today in the Cup series probably won't be able to do this.  What we don't know is if there's some 3 year old Tiger Woods type driver that is going to completely change the game 20 years from now.  The big difference is that golf is primarily a solo sport.  With NASCAR, there are pit crews, crew chiefs & unforseen events (translation-luck) involved with winning every race, far less the Championship.  However, I would LOVE to see someone approach this.

  15. I think no one can do it but if aanyone stands a chance it would be Jimmie Johnson or Joey Logano or Kyle Busch.

  16. Sure ! Why not ? I dont know who, or how many, but remember that 60 years ago, no one thought that anyone would ever break the " 4 min. mile ", or the 10 sec. hundred yard dash records, and the list goes on, and on !
