Certainly. All throughout history, they have been a major influence in the aquatic world. Now, if only they could evolve into reptiles, we would be in MAJOR trouble!

The Communist Party of Axolotls (salamanders) - (CPA(s)) have already begun to cause unrest.  They are fiercely opposed by the Social Democrat Axolotl's Front (SDAF).

The initial argument about gills in or gills out - trivial though it may appear to modern historians, has been going on in axolotl salons for centuries - without agreement.

The CPA(s) have taken a firm stand against gills for ideological reasons - gills are seen as repressive and a symbol of the domination by newts, frogs, and particularly toads.  The CPA (s) also claim that lungs represents the future for axolotl kind worldwide.  Their slogan "Reeds, Ponds and Lungs" has hit a chord among axolotl youth - and is seen by many as a rallying cry.
