I do...or at least for people with low incomes...in the UK sun rotection cream is very expensive and I cannot fathom how single parents are expected to afford this basic health care item...they are given free dental care and free medicine...what is the difference? That stuff stops cancer! I can pay for my own but every time I do...I think gosh that's expensive!

  1. no i dont and im a single parent on low income. try a sunshade or a hat and if that dont work try sainsburys i was suprised that they were cheap.

  2. i personally have never thought about this but now that i do i completely agree, i will say i am not a single mum and neither am i on low income but it still disgusts me at how much they charge for such an important cream and the reason they charge so much is because the company know that it a product that you have to buy and this seems wrong in so many ways does anyone know if there is a way of suggesting this to the right person and who this person would be, because this is a very good and valid question

  3. I don't think it should be free unless it was free for everyone!

  4. i think all sun protection products should be free the cheapest sun cream for children i usually get in semi-chem is johnsons factor 40 and its only £2.99

  5. there was an independant survey done on all kids sunblock last year by WHICH

it was clinically proven that there was no difference between the pound shop brands and the expensive high street shop sun blocks, in fact a couple of the pound shop ones came out better,

get yourself a boots advantage card and sign up for the medical rewards,

it gives you 50% off all medications for yourself and baby and sometimes includes baby sunblocks.

  6. There isnt a whole lot of sun anyway so maby it should be free to those on benefits and low incomes.....If its free for the baby it would probally have to be free for older children and adults too.

  7. Children undergoing chemo or similar get it free as the medication makes the skin more sensitive to the sun.

I think it should be something you can get on prescription as in the long run it will save the country money on treating skin cancer.

Also, there should be tougher measures or better education to make sure parents cover their kids up.  The majority of parents are now very diligent when it comes to the sun but there is still a few out there who allow their children to run around half naked, hatless and screenless.

Then again, just how much more of a nanny state do we want?

  8. What!!!!!!

You get free dental care and free medicine? And now you want more for free?

I have to pay for everything, I don't get anything for free and you are complaining when you need to buy a $1.99 sunblock.

    Stop abusing the taxpayers.

    Get a better job.
