  1. I like them, but it depends on the people you're with. I've had some great times with my family and we've played monopoly through the night, but I've tried a game of poker with friends and been bored within 10 minutes.

  2. Monopoly will never die, but the others won't be missed. It's all about who you play with anyway- if you have good people you can make anygame interesting.

  3. No way are boardgames boring. You do need the right game for the right situation, but the are thousands of games to choose from.

Monopoly isn't the best money game but there is nothing wrong with the original cluedo or an appropriate edition of trivial pursuit.

There is a simple classic game called Pit which you should give a try. It is loud and fast, definetly a fun way to pass a spare half an hour with friends.

The only time board games are boring is when people are involved who aren't in the mood to play.  One person can kill the mood of a game if they are determined to have a bad time.

It is a shame that the best games are often only on sale at specialist shops, but most gamers can find fun in just about any game.

My grandma has been playing a centuries old boardgame called bingo for 60 years and still enjoys it.  I can't imagine any computer game having that kind of longevity.

  4. My brothers getting me Scrabble for Christmas.

Monopoly, Sequence, Pictionary are still very fun games.

    Clue and Life are ok

    Twister used to be fun

  5. Not everyone has a computer or games box.

  6. There are times when it is still fun to get the family together and play a board game.

  7. If I only had such a small choice of games to play, I'd get bored, too.  Fortunately, there are many hundreds of good board games around, most of which you won't find in Toys R Us. They bring back the sparkle, the excitement, the Road Less Traveled explorer kind of feeling you get when you learn and play a new game.  Get some friends together and try something like Settlers of Catan, or Puerto Rico, or even Acquire.  Whatever your taste in games - light strategy, abstract strategy, trivia, party, words, cards - there's something out there for you.

  8. Well i never heard of Cluedo or Trivial Pursuit...But Monopoly it can get boring after about the first 15 minutes....but u have to play with ppl who dont and wont cheat

  9. I don't think board games will ever be outdated.  New ones are being invented all the time, but the old classics are always popular.  Scrabble will always be around.  And do you count Mancala, chess, and checkers as board games?  They have certainly withstood the test of time.   I think board games will always have a role and a place.

  10. I don't really thinks so. They might be outdated but that doesn't mean they are fun. Monopoly has many different characters that appeal different groups (Disney, Pokemon, Star Wars, etc..)

Some games are there to test knowledge

  11. Absolutely not! It's not just about the game, but the company and the interaction with friends and family. It's nice to still make eye contact when you talk to each other...unlike box games. I think you'll find there are still a lot of people who like board games. I still like Monopoly, Scrabble, Trivia Pursuit etc. There's a lot more laughing that happens around the table when playing board games.

  12. times have definately changed. my wife and I now play games together on an xbox, like that Scene It (movie game) they have on xbox now. personally, nothing beats a good old fashioned game of monopoly though...
