As consumers we should be smarter about energy consumption.

NO.  The demands for oil and gas worldwide are going to go up.  That is a fact.  The costs of oil and gas is going to keep going to go up.  Maybe not at the same rate ( hopefully ), but it will still go up.

As consumers, we have the power to lower the demand for gas. It will, of course, demand a total reorganization of society - and that's easier said than done.

Bu the Fed's monetary policies are what is driving the current hike in prices just as much as rising global demand. Consumer demand isn't the only factor in our current equation.
