Do you think that gerbils are good pets, if not tell me why?

I have 4 gerbils at the moment.

I have two gerbils. I think they are good pets because they are easy to take care of and if there is 2 or more you do not need to give them as much attention as you would if they were alone.

The only things I do not like about them is that they are VERY fast and do not like to be picked up very much all they think about is how they can escape.

If you are thinking about getting a gerbil and you want something you can pick up and train to do tricks I would suggest researching about rats. My friend has two rats and they are amazing you can teach them tricks. They sit on your shoulder etc. But they are a lot of your thime since they need attention. About an hour a day and they need cleaning abput once a week.

they are good pets from the point of veiw that they are lively and easy to look after but some are too lively and jumpy to even pick up, i have had gerbils but find them boring.

one good thing though... they only need cleaning out every 2/3 weeks as they are the cleanest rodent
