but we prefer NOT to listen or heed their advice. because we want to be able to live our own lives..and not re-live their's for them?

I believe that "ghosts" which represent spirit energy, sometimes have uncompleted life tasks, the reason which is a premature ending of the life of human entity they had reincarnated into.  These "ghosts" can also be malevolent, and try to act as antagonists which exert their energy in a negative fashion to impede the progress of the persons spiritual development.  It sounds convoluted but this my belief.

yes, like angels and god, they may try to help us with our lives, but they wouldn't force us to do something, at least that's what i think.

No. I do believe however, that when we die our energy returns to The Divine (or The All) and when we go through our transitional phase some of our energy may be left behind ... sort of making a trail ... and that may be what we experience as ghosts or hauntings. I also believe that the transition moves us to another plane of existence which we could call the spiritual plane. That plane is existing at the same time we are ... just at a different frequency. We may experience communication when the frequency shifts for whatever reason and we get peeks at their existence.

I don't think they try to advise us, I think they want to convey love or forgiveness before moving on. I think we don't heed them because we either think it's eveil, or don't believe it could be real, depending on our belief system.

Yes I think that they try to get through to us. I don't think that we don't hear them because we are not listening but because it is very difficult to communicate.

I however do not believe that mediums or anyone else has any special power to enable communication. If a loved one dies then the person that they have the tie with is "YOU" not the swammy. If some one is going to communicate from the afterlife the only possible chance that they would have is with some one they cared deeply about.

I also do not believe that Ghosts live vicariously through us. They have their own unique problems to deal with, so if you do get a warning, and can understand it, heed it.

But it won't come from anyone else.

No, I don't think Ghosts try to get thru to us. I think they don't realise their dead,and are trying to continue their lives. Or they don't want to be dead,with the dead.That they still want to be with the living and try to connect so  that other people know they're still here. That's just my thought.

I think that spirits may try to come through to us but only to let us know that they are still with us, not to interfer in our lives. Some say that a ghost is an earth-bound spirit with something left to do before they can cross over, but I believe that on the other side, spirits can see what's going on and just try to keep a watchful eye. If you feel that someone is trying to tell you something, it very well my be a spirit guide, which is different than a ghost. I would recommend checking out John Edward.
