Do you think that human beings will never become extinct ?

I think that if life on Earth becomes impossible, for some reason, we will try to colonise the moon or a planet of our solar system .

I believe the universe has a limited lifespan, so either way we will become extinct, it's just a matter of time.

Its a great question - mortalityof a mortal race...

Lets rationalise - take the bible on face value (the world has a limited life span i.e. second coming of Christ so forget it as an unbiased source)...

Earth has 'X' amount of resources - every human life requires 'y' amount to sustain and ppropagate the species. Given we are now causing resource depletion we will inevitably face extinction.

Will we colonise other planets/masses within Space? I think its a nice thought but lets be realistic - to get a ship capable of THAT long a voyage (to our nearest neighbouring star system) we would have to unite as a race and most likely expend a large proportion of world resources on an attempt... which would be likely not to succeed.

So its a nice thought but we have 1 planet at this stage and its not likely to change any time soon (this side of 2300ADE) so sorry but we are in all probability going to breed ourselves out of existance (not taking into account the limitations of our genetic pool which limits population growth - which we are already seeing the affects of with increases in cancer rates, auto-imune diseases and all kinds of genetically inherited problems...)

I agree--we never have to become extinct.  We can start colonies on the moon, and on the satellites of other planets in our system.  Eventually, we may explore and colonize other systems.  Read "The Songs of Distant Earth" by Arthur C. Clarke.

its all on what you believe if you believe the Bible it states many times that earth is a world without end it will never die or be uninhabitable if you dont believe that and oyur more science orientated then your gonna look at the state we are in now and say with pollution global warming and population growth the way it is we will eventually have to move because we will over populate and destroy this planet and have to take over another so basically my asnswere is its whatever a persons beliefs stand hope that helps

Possibly. We don't know if DNA finally deteriorates to where it is no longer viable. Some studies indicate that this may be the case. If so, we will become extinct regardless of what we do. Our DNA will not allow anymore births and we will simply fade away.

if you look at other planets and moons in our solar system you will see that there are none which are very suitablefo us. in order to survive in any we would need to build lots of defenses and things to make us be able to live there, these planets will not have the rich diversity of ressources and stuff as the earth. so i think if we are to live in this solar system we need earth.

but it could be possible we colonize other planets. but even if we do what is certain is that human beings will one day go extinct the question is when. one day the universe will cease to be as it is, humans will cease to be some time before that.
