  1. it may very well turn into a five when it hits the gulf but history shows they usually weaken to a three as the eye approaches close to landfall.  It usually ends up a strong three.  there are upper level winds coming in from the north which will also most likely weaken it somewhat as it approaches landfall from a 4 or 5 to a 3.

  2. The latest is that it's already going 150 mph, but that was even before it entered the warm waters of the gulf coast. As it enters the gulf coast (in a couple of hours), it will strengthen immensley. A category 5 hurricane is 155 mph and up, so there is no doubt that Gustav will be turning into Category 5 and it is projected to make landfall as either a Category 4 or 5, making it one of the most powerful storms to hit the area on record.

Yes, MUCH stronger than Katrina...which made landfall as a Category 3.

  3. yes i think so

    GOD BLESS EVRYONE

    please be safe

  4. As of 8pm EDT, Gustav winds were at 150mph and if they reach 155mph then he will become a category 5. Gustav will weaken a bit as he goes further north and he's forecasted to make landfall as either a  category 3 or 4. Katrina was a strong category 3 when she made landfall. Unfortunately, he might be like Katrina. Here are two good websites to stay up-to-date on the storm:

  5. God Bless them all & Yes,

I think it will be a Cat 5 unfortunately.
