Hah, depends on how much of a pivotal role your position serves.  I've definitely pulled it off but you have to have a good understanding of whether a boss frequently checks up on you or is constantly handing you work.  Worst case scenario, you can always have a good excuse later for why you never came back (a friend needed a favor, car broke down, emergency, etc.).

not sure. if it is like it's here in the united states no matter if you work in a place that there is lots of people or just a few someone will notice if you don't come back.
