Do you think that if black woman didn't try to create themselves into the "ideal beauty" our overall self-esteem would be better. It seems some black women, yes I said some, try so hard to create "european" traits about themselves, such as the straightening of the hair or the lighting of the skin, that they go into a mild depression about their physical appearance. Let's be realistic. Black women who are born black won't ever look like white women, and vise versa. Why even try?? Why don't we embrace OUR beauty. That's the what the European did and everyone is trying to follow their beauty. I remember reading about black hair and it was mentioning Afros and how it was about pride. There were people of various races and ethnicities who tried to have afros just because it was so unique. What do you think?

  1. I think black women with straightened hair and lighter skin look better, provided they have nice looking facial features and not overweigh.  Sometimes, I come across black women like what I described above, they are gorgeous !!

I don't see there is anything wrong to adapt the european critiera of beauty. It has nothing to do with self-esteem.

    Edit:

TK, if you are overweight, I am sorry for you.  You should start working on your body at least for the sake of your health than critisizing other people

  2. Yes I do. I think the natural beauty of the Black woman is some of the best around. I'm sick & tired of non-White females trying to copy White girls. What's so great about stringy hair, thin lips & no shape? It's time for America to start recognizing all the various types of beauty!

  3. Beautifull is beautifull no matter what you do to yourself. I find natural black women highly attractive as it shows confidence in who you are naturally. The inner person shines much brighter than the outer person and thats highly attractive no matter what color you are or what you change on the outside.

  4. As long as idiots like emalil exist...

  5. I think if we stop caring about what others think of us we wouldn't be trying too hard with our looks.  It's so easy to be like everyone else than to stand out and be different. Some of us are afraid of the looks from our own people which is sad. You get more negative comments from your own race than others. I am glad to say I am at the point where I don't care what others think. I do me. But when I was in my teens, I was ashamed to be different because I was much weaker then.
