No.  We should manage the demand for oil downwards by other means. So the consumers can keep their money for a change.

High prices are the cure that will be applied by default, if nothing is done.

Gasoline taxes are used to build bigger, faster roads that actually encourage MORE gasoline consumption.

******Only if every other country in the world does the same thing!!  We are not the only country that uses gasoline or petroleum products, although we are probably one of the bigger users of them.  

We are a wasteful country and should start reusing and recycling more than we do currently.  We don't need as much as we consume!

Are you trying to save the planet, or save mankind?

Personally, I think the Earth will do what it has to do to survive, even at the expense of the extinction of mankind.

As far as raising the gasoline tax, ok..I suppose it would reduce consumption of gasoline, but at what cost?  Do you have vehicles ready for people for whom public transportation is not an option?

If not, how do you propose to offset their growing budget by adding on another tax they probably can not afford?

I have no problem with finding ways to conserve gasoline, but if you have no other solutions than taxes, solutions that are immediately available, you are only punishing people who can't afford more punishment.

no. people still have to drive the same amount of miles to work, school and grocery store. It is just making hard times harder
