  1. It would be a small business. Hire workers, editors, columnists. You need a lot of money to start and usually there is already one like it. It would have to be relative to a large group of people.

  2. It's challenging but not impossible.

No matter what the subject you need to make it work financially, and generally you can expect about 80% of total revenue from advertising (or all of it if you're planning a free title). You MUST sell the magazine and the concept to your advertisers.

You say your magazine is like no other. Could that be because there's no money to be made from this subject? Sorry to be negative but some of the world's biggest publishers spend a lot of time and money looking at new areas and you can be sure that someone will have looked at the same area as you're planning at some time.

You should prepare a business plan and get costs for printing, distributions, etc, and prepare a media kit and dummy edition of your magazine to present to potential advertisers.

    Good luck.

  3. Not that I'm in the field at all, but I would imagine it's difficult.  You must appeal to a specific group, such as a specific industry.  Trying to start a generic magazine, such as People, would be almost impossible in my opinion.

  4. It will take a lot of hard work and most big magazines start out local, and small.  It may take a few years but it can be done!

  5. No, I don't think it's easy.  A lot of work goes into putting it together, gathering the resources to print it, and most importantly of all, getting enough advertisers to make a profit on it.  I'd say most magazines probably make more money on advertising than they do on newsstand sales or subscriptions, but of course the two go hand in hand.  Your advertisers won't stick with you unless you sell enough copies to make it worth their money.

  6. depends on the topic. but typically it is hard. But when its out, put the name out. I might just buy and read it! :]]

Good luck! I hope I have helped!! :D

  7. I think it sounds like a ton of work.  good luck

  8. I think it's difficult. I don't think that should stop you though. Famous people have a hard time getting there magizines to "take flight" but I think that would be an amazing accomplishment and I would go for it. What's it going to be about?
