  1. lightening can strike twice in the same place because i know some one it happened to plus i have see people on TV that they been hit twice by lightening so my answer is yes.

  2. There is a very low probability of one specific place to be struck by lightning.  Therefore for that place to be struck a second time would be the probability of one strike squared.  This squaring of the probability makes it very unlikely, but not impossible to occur.

  3. lighting can strike the same place twice. though the odds of is happening is not very large

  4. rubbish

Lightning strikes in the same place many times

It hits the top of the Empire State Building several times a year

  5. Six trees along the South side of the A63 near Howden were destroyed by three separate lightning strikes in a single storm.  This happened about 5 years ago - so I'm inclined to think it does!!

  6. If there's a well-grounded conductor of electricity, there's a chance it will be struck more than once during a thunderstorm. Like someone said above, Empire State Building and any other such structures have a good chance to be struck more than once.

  7. Yes people have been stuck by lighting on more than one occasions....darn unlikely I say!!

  8. PURE RUBBISH. Just think about it. Lightening takes the shortest, least resistant route to ground. To prevent your house from being hit people put up lightening rods. IF lightening only would hit it once it would be a waste of time. BUT NO lightening hits the rod everytime a strike is near it.

  9. i think the odds of it happening are so rare that people say it will never happen, but i think it can.

  10. The worst kind of rubbish. The Empire State Building is struck about 100 times each year.

  11. Lightening can strike twice, there was a woman who was hit twice, don't know the details, but, I remember that fact. x

  12. Lightning almost never strikes the same place within a few minutes. Even a few hours later it is a good target.

  13. not 'rubbish'... just very very VERY unlikely

  14. Of course lightning strikes more than once in the same place! Thats why a lot of buildings have lighning rods attached.

As for your friend - some people seem to be natural magnets for lighning. This article www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0...

    is about that very thing.

Of course being directly struck, and being in the area struck and feeling the effects of the strike (like having your hair stand on end) are two different things. Perhaps this is what you friend meant.

  15. Don't believe the myths

There are many myths surrounding lightning — such as lightning never strikes the same place twice or it always strikes the tallest object. Both are false, as lightning strikes the best conductor on the ground — whether it has been struck before or not.

  16. There are many documented cases of people being hit more than once by lightning and living to tell about it. Now whether they were in the same place when they got hit is another story. Are you asking if the same person can get twice, or if lightning will ever strike the exact same spot on this planet twice?

  17. I have watched some documentaries about it and I remember it was said that once struck you can be struck again because your body has already been used as a vehicle for the electricity.

  18. It seems that people are not immune Roy C. Sullivan who was a U.S. forest ranger in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia holds a record for being struck by lightening.

Lightning strike #1 came in 1942 in a fire lookout tower.

Lightning strike #2 came in 1969when he was in his truck.

Lightning strike #3 came in 1970 in his front yard.

Lightning strike #4 came in 1972 in a ranger station.

Lightning strike #5 came on August 7, 1973 while he was in his car.

Lightning strike #6 came on June 5, 1974 in a campground.

Lightning strike #7 came on June 25, 1977 while fishing.
