Money and greed control the world currently, but are not necessary to make it go round. It's just that large portions of the world are either too stupid or lazy (and greedy) to build an alternative.

Fear and Greed make the world go around. They are the core drivers of free markets. And free markets are the force that creates wealth and prosperity in society. Over a billion Chinese are moving from poverty to prosperity because of this force.
