  1. The climate is not more friendly to humans?  You would have to undergo many hours of training to be able to live in Antarctica.  Attached to the Antarctic Centre in Christchurch New Zealand is a training centre for those who will be going to and living in the Antarctic.

You have to undergo many tests to be able to survive successfully in the Antarctic.  As you will be living in close quarters your personality must be such that you can get along with all of the others living there too.

The winters are extremely harsh and not conducive to being friendlier for humans.  Go to this website and it will give you information and a small taste of what living there would be like -- wearing four or five layers of clothes to me is not friendly.

  2. Nope.  It's the driest desert on Earth.  There is little soil.  Even if it warms up, nothing much will grow there.

  3. People live there now from 1 to 2 years depending on which country they go down with The British have a 2 year stay for their winterers the Australians up to 18 months, American tend to stay for shorter periods because they have regular plane flights even to the pole, in summer. The Antarctic Peninsula is far less harsh, which is why many smaller countries tend to put bases there the Chilean main station has families and even a full indoor basketball court.

  4. No.

  5. Yes, people can live anywhere, you'll be surprised.

  6. Should have the weather of Hawaii, in a year or two, isn't that right, Al ?
