yeah..of course.. i mean, in considering that it is a very2 noble thing to do, why don't u do it? u really should help those people who are in need, but that doesn't mean that u MUST donate your money.. like u said, u can spend your time and energy to help them.. plus, put yourself in their position, wouldn't u want others to help u as well?

I do, we are all inter-connected and rely on each other.  I have met people who at one point and time needed help.  Some nice person gave them that help and now they are helping out others in return.  It's kind of like the movie pay it forward....if everyone did three nice things for another person maybe the world would be a little better.  Also look at the Amish, they are very dependent on their community, when someone is sick everyone rallies around them, they have less violence, fewer stds, and fewer teenage pregnancies than others outside their communities....

If u like helping out then do it and plus u can get money from the head of the chairty group and dah u can help people it's the best thing i ever did and if u want to get in to a googd school and u tell them at your interview that u helped the poverty they will give u the best teachers that school

sure why not....I do it ..its my way of giving back....back n the day....when I was very young ....we were in that situation several times.....thing is we had family who always helped out ...a lot of people don't have that...I'll do what I can....also ..it helps me feel a good that I helped someone....once when I did ...coats 4 kids....I was at a store...when a little boy about 9 years old came up to me ...and when I turned around ...he give me a hug...says remember me....with his Spanish accent...and with the biggest grin...points at his coat.....I say hey yeah...how are you doing....he hugs me again...then runs off.....he was with one of the families I help....choose coats...I do that every year...

First because Jesus gave us an example of giving.  He gave his life.  Second because you will be blessed for giving.  Third because it will make you feel accomplished.

Biblical principles of giving work even for non-christians.  Imagine what they do for you if you are a christian.

I think its a good idea but I also think they should see that the economic system is unfair. The real problem lies with the top 10% of the US population who control most of the country's wealth and land. Help others because they are like you but never forget who the enemy of better lives for all is.

It opens your eyes to the plight of others.  You can actually help change someones life for the good, you are empowered.

Your eyes are opened to the shortcomings of the community as well as its strengths. You can see how charities actually work together to benefit the client.  One charity may provide food, shelter,  another clothing, another furniture etc after a disaster,  Like the cogs in a gear, they work together to move forward and to try to cover human needs.  You learn to see life through someone else's eyes, their problems and concerns,  and help give solutions.  You will find strengths you never knew you had and also weaknesses that perhaps you didn't know you had and can work to improve upon that.  Perhaps you will "get it" and it will become your life's ambition.  Perhaps you ARE the person who can make the world a better place for all.

I think so. I try to do it every time. There are so many people in need, not only money or food or medicines, but  also needing hope of any kind. Sometimes a laugh can help. The only time I felt like a coward ( I am ) was when I couldn't help in a Hospital with sick children...That kills me. So, if I'm dead I wont be a great help for others.  Yes, everyone can make a difference anyhow.

If you are well off and have the time and money to do this, Why not? You are helping the less fortunate and will feel good about doing it.

But if you don't have the time, or the money, no one can hold it against you, you are only trying to make your own way.
