Question:

Do you think that people will finally move from New Orleans?

It's apparent that the earth is undergoing a climate change. (I personally don't believe it's caused by us, it's happened before, and will again after this). New Orleans is ALREADY below sea level... quite a bit...

Wouldn't it be better if the government paid for them to live somewhere else, where their homes might not get swept away every 2 years?

It doesn't make sense for FEMA (the TAXPAYERS) to spend so much money in a place that is clearly destined to be underwater soon.

What do you think?

Why should we have to bail out people again and again that chose to live, or stay in an area that's clearly hazardous?

  1. No

People want to live in New Orleans and they are going to keep living there because to many it is HOME.

So some people are going to live there no matter what - they are private citizens not military people that have to follow orders.

They can move anytime they want ..........

What we need to do is not bail them out if they refuse to leave a mandatory evacuation and not buy into the victims mentality  that the media will plaster all over the place of the people to stubborn to leave.

  2. the problem is obvious but the government simply does not care - there are still holes in the levees since last time. & because of this attitude, many american citizens believe it's ok not to care as well - one post i just read said that they don't care because the people are 'poor & dirty'.

these people are doomed, they don't have a choice but to live there. the government knows it can do whatever it likes with them. it's shameful.

  3. nah. lots of people wont leave after katrina, and now gustav. but eventually the government is going to get tired of blowing money on rebuilding a city that keeps getting demolished, so it will encourage people to abandon new orleans. can't get more apocolyptic than that, eh?

  4. Oh and FEMA( THE TAXPAYERS) are just paying for us and you forgot the florida just got hit bad by a hurricane and fema wont pay for that? and they earthquake 2 weeks ago in California and Ohio? so how stupid are you to say something like that? In the past 3 years you only heard of 3 hurricanes hitting my city that really made a treat that the public knows about (Katrina Rita Gustav) how many hurricanes has hit florida in the last 3 years that made treats if any city needs to be wiped off the map it should be florida they taking all your TAX $$$ STUPID !!! THEY GET HIT AT LEAST 3 A SEASON STUPID ***!!!!

  5. IF (big IF) Gustav drowns New Orleans again, hopefully the government will declare the flooded areas uninhabitable instead of going through the silliness of building in the bowl yet again.

This will be up to the Bush administration to do, as obviously neither presidential candidate will dare say that New Orleans should be abandoned.

  6. How would you feel if your history were wiped out and You were told to leave all that you know for a strange place?? If they are willing to risk it then they also need to face the music.  I can see bailing them out once but the next time they are on their own. When they rebuild they need to consider what has happened and prepare better.

  7. I don't think the government should pay them anything. It isn't the taxpayers' fault that people insist on living in a clearly hazardous area below sea level. People shouldn't get any extra money just because they choose to live in an area that continuously gets wiped out by hurricanes. The less money the government blows on free handouts and useless wars, the less money and power they will have to steal from our paychecks. We could actually reduce taxes and this country would flourish again. A truely free nation doesn't need to rely on socialist government hand outs.

  8. Once Obama makes us a communist country the government will be able to tell us where to live. Until then we can live where ever we want.

If living where it's dangerous was really a concern we would have to empty out the inner cities across America. Where would you put all those people.

  9. I really hope people move, it is like a boxing match, getting hit, knocked down and get back up, get hit again, knocked down..... Sometimes you just get beat. People move everyday and leave their history. That is how history is made!

  10. Excellent question. How many times do we pay for it though? Somethings (besides the levy) got to give! God bless, and keep them.

  11. yes, fill in that bowl.  The weather is not going to get any better in the coming years so why live like it is not going to happen again.

  12. no

  13. they are moving in droves right now.

  14. If they can afford to move, they should leave the area.
