Do you think that ...?

Do you think it would be a good idea to have "allergy testing days" at a hospital or community health center where parents who are concerned about severe allergens that may cause a life threatening reaction can go and test them out in a safe environment.

I know I'm all about allergic reactions today but just something I've been thinking about.

Do you think it would work? why or why not?

  1. Sounds like a good idea to me!

  2. I don't think it would ever happen in the US, allergy specialists make WAY too much money doing those kinds of tests and a hospital probably wouldn't give away something they can charge for.

  3. ya it could...just like blood donation days, sports physicals, hair cut days...

  4. It's an interesting idea, but it would not be cost-effective.  Who would pay for it?  My guess is that it's actually cheaper for an occasional kid to need an ER visit than to test lots of kids who won't.  Plus, hospitals are always ready to assist with allergic reactions.  If parents are worried, they can administer peanuts (or whatever is the concern) and spend the next few hours within a close drive of a hospital and go there if needed.
