Absolutely. From science is science fiction and in there you shall find a jungle of futuristic thinking. Think about all those Trekkie fans, 2001 A Space Odyssey, 2010, Lost In Space, Space 1999, and the thousands of fiction paper backs. Those and the regular advance in biology, computeronics, communications and electronic media, GM food, organ transplants, immunology ..... The past two hundred has been one revolution after an other, but it is commentary of debating philosophers that has brought them to the forefront of consciousness.
