Read the following sledges, How bad the cricketers were ?

Daryll Cullinan & Shane Warne - As Cullinan was on his way to the wicket, Warne told him he had Been waiting 2 years for another chance to humiliate him. "Looks like you spent it eating," Cullinan retorted.

Glenn McGrath to Ramnaresh Sarwan - "So what does Brian Lara's d*ck taste like?"

Sarwan: "I don't know. Ask your wife." McGrath lost it: "If you ever mention my wife again, I'll F***ing rip your F***ing throat out."

Ricky Ponting & Shaun Pollock - After going past the outside edge with a couple of deliveries, Pollock told Ponting: "It's red, round & weighs about 5 ounces." Unfortunately for Pollock, the next ball was hammered out of the ground. Ponting to Pollock: "You know what it looks like, now go find it."

Ian Healy's legendary comment that was picked up by the Channel 9 microphones when Arjuna Ranatunga called for a runner on a particularly hot night during a one dayer in Sydney... "You don’t get a runner for being an overweight, unfit, fat c**t!!!"

  1. Its rare to find these in newspapers, there are lot of verbal abuses happening on the field. It should be banned. The game should be played with sportsmanship spirit

  2. even tho you listed the sledging im crapping myself laughing at those comments some can be quite clever

so for entertainment value  don't ban them please !!!

    .

    .

    .

  3. the sledging is one of the best parts of the game

it wouldn't be cricket with out it

    bite me

  4. yes              y so long yaar

  5. Sure it should be.

If you see a most common factor in all this situations is the only one.

    Australians.

They are the one who keep doing this with all other teams. Once sledging is banned, you will see their domination will go away very quickly.

  6. Good question mate. Even if sledging was banned there would be no way to eliminate it completely from our game, i wish it could be though, there is no place for it in cricket. I was playing once and got sledged so bad i went mad and made a big score.

  7. Yes, of course, because they are making the game "dirty & poor" with sledging and some players like Andrew Symonds, S.Sreesanth, Shoaib Akhtar, Ricky Ponting & Harbhajan Singh etc. are not good behaviers in the ground and ICC have to think about that.

  8. yes, it is merely a shameful manner in which the superior teams used to bully an take advantage of the weaker teams, just to maintain their status without putting the necessary effort and performance into their game.

the less the sledging, the better it is for cricket as a whole

  9. It's been around forever (stump microphones haven't which is why it's now a common topic) and provided it's not racial or 'stepping over the line' why should it pose a problem?

Do we want our cricketers to become robots. People have to lighten up and get a grip.

  10. no

  11. McGrath is always dissing it out, if you can take it as well as give it then it is fine. My favorite is this one.

McGrath, frustrated that Brandes was still at the crease, wandered up during one particular over and inquired: "Why are you so fat?"

Quick as a flash, Brandes replied: "Because every time I make love to your wife, she gives me a biscuit."

  12. It should be banned as it is adversely affecting the true spirit of the game and leadsto avoidable controversies.

  13. I think there's nothing wrong with it if the sledging is kept within the team & no family members mentioned, as in McGraths case. Also racism should be kept out of it, as in Harbhajans case.

  14. i reckon motivational sledging shud go on. such as 'you couldve played that square'-by collingwood. it gud up2 a limit

  15. Get a grip! Sledging's just another part of the game. It's all part of the psycological battle between the bowler/fielders and the batsman. They work - I've watched one on youtube showing Flintoff telling Tino Best to 'mind the windows'. He promply danced down the wicket next ball, got stumped and Freddie was laughing! And besies, they're funny to listen to and read - your examples made me laugh!

  16. sledging should not be banned .
