  1. Yes, it gives your muscles a better work out as its harder to run on sand, but it is softer on the joints.  


  2. its a great idea, i love running on the beach, especially at dusk or dawn

  3. yes it's good exercise, but running on uneven levels of long periods of time can damage your legs

  4. Its harder than road running and a better work out... When I go to the beach to run I warm up with the run to the beach and then run down the beach.

    If you want a good work out, try the sand dunes as well, not high hills to climb but every step you take your feet fall back half way so its like going up twice as high. Watch out for tripping over and rabbit holes but sand dunes are good to run over

Of course it's a good thing but in what context if it is just a fun thing ok but for me the real reason for running on a beach would be as part of a fitness or running programme say especially for say 400  mt and sprinters in their winter training programme remember this resistance gives you strength assistance gives you speed so the sand being resistance will give you strength but there again if it is just a fun thing any exercise providing you enjoy doing it is fun
