i think they are focused and have made their statement- the good news is they seem to be playing better and better as the tournament progresses along.  

Australia will be a test.  The Americans just have to remain focused-- one game at a time and remain humble -- their recent play has almost had many doubters who were picking:  Spain, Greece, etc. over them to say it's the gold belongs to the Americans- and truthfully anything less would be disappointing- but they must continue to respect their opponents and recognize their weaknesses (3 point shooting, free throw shooting, etc.) and not take it for granted- until they're running the clock out in the 4th quarter of the gold medal game.
