Its not true, I've seen several news stories on it that disprove those videos of popcorn popping via cell phone.  In fact, the news people went so far to even contact the makers of the video, only to find out they were working for a company.  I'm pretty sure it was a hair conditioner company but I'm not positive.  Not exactly sure why they did popcorn for a hair product but ya that's what I saw on the news.

So basically those videos were just advertisements, just really bad ones lol

never heard of it. and it doesnt make sense. a microwave pops popcorn coz it activates the water particles in the corn. and a mobile phone can never do such thing. imagine, if a phone could heat up to that level, then our earlobes will be fried. crispy thumbs, anyone?

It's not possible.  The only way it could happen was if a cell phone could make water boil.  There is a bit of water inside a kernel of corn.  When it is heated to boiling, it's expansion causes the kernel to pop.
