Do you think that the chinese girl gymnasts are younger than 16?

personally, i think the gold medalist is 6 years old.

my one friend thinks that maybe she just looks young.

the people looking into it are never going to find anything that says that they are actually 6 or whatever because they obvi changed all of there papers that may give away there actual age.

what do you think?

In my opinion, she does not appear to be sixteen. The physique of a gymnast at sixteen is broaden then she is. One of the Chinese gymnasts weighs 68 pounds, which is a good thirty pounds less then Shawn Johnson and they are only about an inch or two different in height.

I'm Chinese and I'm only 5'1; we're short. I think at least some of them are legitimate, but the US's attacks on their age is coming off as being sore losers..

It's truly a hard thing !! to be able to even guess at a persons age range !! The way cerain clothes are displayed / warn by some ... Is a big helper in helping to keep ones age concealed!?! by the wearer !!.,. Make up I wo'nt even comment one !!.. I ready & willing to agree that some places/countries might've had a YOUNGSTER slave night & day just to bring home some MATERIALISTIC junk?@% uh'mm MEDAL... It really USED to be fun to watch olympic games !?!.. Now I'd HAVE to have some intrest in whichever said event/sport !! I'm able to see sports 24/7 if I so choose. !!!  rRr

I do think they're younger actually. At first I thought, OH come on... We lost...deal with it. But as I looked closely at them, like their legs and teeth especially, I am sure they are at least 14 or less.

Yes, of course they are younger than 16. You can tell based on their undeveloped physical, but nothing is going to happen...

ha ha ha, actually Asian people looks healthier and younger than western people. Look around you and compare even say 50 yea old Asian people, they look 30 or 40~!

Underage, but there's no way to prove otherwise. The PRC is a communist, totalitarian state. If anyone at the top of government wants something a certain way, everyone below them is bound to give way and do as they're told. Here in the US, our freedom makes such nonsense very difficult. Can you imagine the President, Congress and the Senate getting involved in the USOC..? Then what state, let alone county and hospital are going to takes orders from the Feds to alter documents..?

There are tiny teenage girls out there that are 16. Just because you americans have big fat teenage girls that eat the hormone injected chicken from mcdonalds everyday doesn't mean you can go around and judge someone's age by how small they are.

I think that has always been a issue with wemon's team gymnastics.  I think they (the Chinese)  are all underage.  And I also think that is sad that they are allowed to do that. It just goes to show that people cheet and are allowed to do so. I also have issues with the way they were soring some of the events but that is a whoooole other question huh?  lol

There's no way to prove a person's age unless the parents come out and tell everyone, and I doubt they are going to do so. I don't understand why they're still investigating. Besides, the only reason they're trying to find her age is because they won.

They look like 11 year olds to me. it is easy to change DOB and other information in developing countries. They probably changed their age.

I know Asians muture slowly compared to Americans. But they look extremely young compare to other girls.

Quite a bit of evidence has come to light that three of the team members are underage -- not just because they look young but because their ages have already been listed in previous competitions, etc. But the IOC basically has no choice but to take the word of the Chinese government and the documents it presents; otherwise it could find itself responsible to check details on ten thousand athletes every few years.

In the end, it is strategically important to the Chinese government -- and to most Chinese people who, justifiably, take pride in their nation -- that gold medalist Miss HE nor other team members not be exposed as underage and having lied. The shame would be too much. That understood, and the fact that the government can fairly well control what substantial proof is allowed to be brought to light, my opinion is that nothing can be proven and it's best to let the matter slide.
