  1. No, the best mental game is jeopardy.

  2. yes because its nice..

  3. I think it's one of the best. A good chess player has to be able to think several steps ahead of his opponent and anticipate the possible moves he'll make and plan his moves accordingly.to reach the goal of checkmate.

  4. I think chess is an awesome game, lots of strategy. I also like sudoku but that game really has no opponent.

But I have to disagree with Jeopardy,,,its only trivia, you cant really think thru and see four or more moves out in the game because there are the unforseens like who will get the "DAILY DOUBLE". that can change the game as much as wild cards can in Texas Hold'em  Nothing like having 4 "natural Aces" and getting beat by a guy holding 5 Kings with 3 wild cards. So sometimes you can rely on luck to win in Jeopardy where as if you try to rely on luck in chess you are going to lose!!! I hate getting beat at a game by "LUCK"

  5. Go is a much better game. It requires much more thought than chess. Just do research on it.

  6. It is a good game but if you consider all the possible moves,  it is no more complicated than solving a Rubik's Cube and people can do that in a matter of seconds.

Think of chess as a very involved game of tic-tack-toe.    There may come a time that a computer will come up with the perfect game,  that no matter what the opponent does,   you will always win.

I think Mah Jongg is much more challenging.   You are playing against three other players,   you have no control of what your next "move" is going to be other than to keep or return the piece and you have to really be able to see combinations appearing.   You also have a lot more variety in the pieces as with chess you only have SIX different pieces.   you also have three different sets of rules that you can play by,  adding another issue to the mix.

  7. I don't think ANY game can claim to be the best Mental Calisthenics in the world.  It's like physical exercise - some kinds will do you more good than others, and people generally get in shape by doing a variety of them.

  8. Clearly, VERY few of these people actually know ANYTHING, at all, about chess.  Go, is NOT more complicated than chess. It's impossible to play a perfect game "regardless" of what the opponent does. and to top it ALL off, you can't just "Look ahead" and see moves, and "Solve" it like a Rubik's cube. chess involves principles forks pins skewers positional play, tactics, long term goals, key squares, proper balance of offense defense, calculating what the next play will be, blah blah blah. you can't just "SOLVE" chess. If it were that easy, I'd just go Beat up on Kasparov, and Anand Viswanathan real quick, for a few million Dollars. Get out of here with that mess. Chess is such a level of complication beyond your belief that computers can't even Calculate all the possible moves in a chess game.  as for "Go," my pocket watch could "solve" the game.
