Do you think that the media would be making such a big deal if Palin's son had gotten a girl pregnant?

All this takes makes me sooooo angry! Watch feminists organizations won't say anything because Palin's daughter made the wrong choice in their eyes by choosing to keep the baby. They won't defend her even if the supposedly stand up for women. Lets not forget that Obama was born to an 18 year old.

  1. I doubt it. I don't even think it would be uncovered unless the pregnant girl wanted media attention.

It's not surprising she's pregnant, her mother is pro-life and a lot of young girls make mistakes nowadays. 17 isn't THAT young. She may even be 18 by the time she gives birth (I don't know her birthday).

It's not like this girl is the only relative of a politician making mistakes or doing something not everyone would agree with. Give her a break.

  2. YES I do think it would be a big deal to the media and rightly so. If people want to tout abstinence instead of contraception then they had better make sure their own kids practice it!

  3. If Palin was a man we wouldn't be talking about her right now.

    How sad is that?

  4. Feminist organizations won't say anything because it shouldn't be an issue at all. They aren't bowing to media pressure. (All Feministing.com had to say about it was that the "it's not a choice, it's a child" line is not being used by Republicans in this case.) The only reason this is an issue is because of Palin's stance on abstinence-only education, which failed her daughter miserably. The same would have gone for her son.

  5. The people who report on politics will jump on any kind of scandal because it sells. This has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with gossip

  6. Yes, they most definitely would.  I'm a journalist and the "newsworthy" story is in the illegitimate child in the family of a Republican.  The Republican party has been traditionally scornful of single parents and situation other than what their "family values" say should be.  It's the same thing with Cheney's L*****n daughter and it's this contradiction that the media is focusing on and has nothing to do with gender.

And feminist organizations shouldn't say anything about anything.  Feminists are ignorant hate mongers who "stand up for" women the same way the KKK "stands up for" white people.

  7. All I can say is if there is more pressure on Palin her response should simply be "I can raise my daughter in a way I believe is ethical but I can't force her to conform to any of my views"

  8. A public figures personal life is their own business I don't get why people are making such a big deal out of this maybe if her daughter had gotten knocked up and had an abortion there would be reason to make a fuss but isn't her daughter keeping the baby I would think she would be able to make a good example out of her Palin being pro life and all.
