The new rules for L plate drivers have been brought in, affecting half the year 12's and not the other half. With the late notice I cannot get my P's until February next year because the tests are all booked out until August.

I understand why the new rules have been put in place, so that L plate drivers are ready to drive when they get their P’s. But is it fair that half the year is afflicted by these new rules and the others are not?? In my opinion and also many others, this rule should have put in place for those going for their L plate first faze. This is so they have notice to get more driving lessons and be prepared, rather than to be caught unaware.

  1. I think that 120 hours of learning, given the cost of petrol, could equate to alot of money spent by parents teaching their kids to drive. which is obviously doubled if they have two kids, or more. I have my full licence, and I had to do 50 hours which wasn't so bad because petrol was only 90c a litre, or maybe even less.

I do however agree with the new rule that says P platers cannot carry more than 1 passenger under 21 after 11pm. I think that will save alot of lives. I also agree with the 'zero tolerance' policy on P platers and speeding, but given all that I still think there are alot of smartass P platers who will overtake me on the freeway and all that. I know alot of them do the right thing but those who don't ruin it for everyone else.
