Its not a secret that just about everyone hates school. But, what i find interesting is that people seem to enjoy college a lot more, while even maintaining better grades than they had in high school. I think this is because in high school, teens look at it as just a chore and it has to be done no matter how they do it. But in college, they seem to want to go because they see it as an option instead of a task because they don't really have to do anything if they don't want. You get to choose what interests you and have fun while learning, but still take required classes that are important. College is also a lot more liked because there are more flexible schedules, more choices of courses to take, a better environment, and the biggest one you don't HAVE to socialize if you choose not to. In grade school, they stick you wherever they want you to go and you are forced to talk to people you may dislike.

  1. You are absolutely right.  In high school you have to attend.  In college, no one cares if you don't attend or study.  It's all up to you if you want to waste your money and fail or do a good job and get that diploma.

  2. Roxgod, yes, I think that school systems need to change. The reason is that I am a taxpayer, and the cost of schools to us taxpayers for the education that students are getting is horrible. I have seen a lot of teachers and a lot of students, and I have not been impressed by either group. I fear for our nation and our world.

The attitude of both teachers and students is not impressive, nor is it conducive to increasing knowledge. Neither group is able, it seems, to be able to write, or do research in print, or make judgments that require mathematics. Logic seems to elude both groups as well.

School administrators seem to be more interested in quotas than education.

College students do have a wider variety of courses to choose from, but high school is to provide a basic education from which graduates are able to understand their environment on a basic level, and to learn the most important thing that they need to learn. (See my question on this and put in your opinion.) In high school you need to learn how to learn. A lot of people do not realize this, and do not.

There are good students and good teachers, and I  am talking in general. The USA is lagging in education, and our nation will have to either change things or suffer down the road. We seem to be more interested in football scores and clothing trends than knowledge about our universe and our world.

I call them as I see them.

    Regards,

    Dan
