I asked a question about what springs to mind when i say the word Zionist and was accused of being anti-semitic which I found to be a little hilarious given that I have been dating a Jewish man for the past 9 months!!

  1. People get things confused:

Semites are a racial group, and not neccesarily Jewish, Palestinians are Semites, for example.

Also Zionism is not a religion, or a race, it is a political movement and Zionists are just as likely to be nominally Christian- GW for example, as Jewish.

As you know, Jews are born, in a matrilineal religion, or are converts.

anti-semitic is nothing to do with Zionism.

Zionists can be anti semitic, and semites can be anti Zionist.

Also, many Jews are strongly opposed to Zionism.

Your friends are over PC, and under informed on this matter.

  2. ask your boyfriend and his family about this next time you're all together.  they could tell you better than we could, and you all could get to know each other better.

edit:  the term "Zionist" as slur became widespread after Stalin got paranoid.  this communist rhetoric is adapted whenever expedient by the new "world citizenry" movement after Karl Popper (both groups are cozy with Islamic extremism; both have "blame America first---and Israel too" mantras)---

in the US, both of these groups find their homes on the Left, but Stalinist propaganda has pervaded through to many who consider themselves "right"---this is purposefully done by the Left

  3. Yep.  It gets worse here on Y/A since people can hide behind the keyboard.

  4. No, anti-Jewish sentiment is thrown around too much nowadays.

What a stupid Jewish man.  I think the suggestion from "aural marginalized" was great, next time you're having a nice dinner with your boyfriend's parents and family, bring this subject up.

  5. Yes,  but there are numerous things that are said too casually now-a-days. Here is an article that describes what you are asking about  http://www.informationclearinghouse.info...

  6. I can't remember the last time I heard the term but then I don't hang out with Jewish people,

  7. Yes it is. You have to puss-yfoot around a lot of groups nowadays and the ones who constantly accuse people of being anti-semitic are the worst. Saying this simply causes resentment to be honest with you.

  8. Just like any 'anti' thing is. just reminds how the church used to shout 'heretic' to stifle free speech!

  9. It part of the new democratic stategy to bringing global unity they say.  Imagine that hating Isreal for a new babylon.
