  1. I'll use the iceberg as my example. I'd say that about 80-90% of who we are lies below the surface. Yes, unless it's a singularly unique relationship between two people, one never really come close to knowing another. Often things aren't said because one person doesn't want to hurt the other. Or, when arguments flare up, they're quite often about something else altogether. The real issue doesn't get discussed because of a fear the other person will reject us. Some people are very private. They don't open up, once again, for fear of being rejected or hurt. Human beings are highly complex.  


  2. of course, because theres some subconcious feelings and emotions that are never really defined in a person.  They may not know about them or just not be able to put into words.

  3. There are many things that you can never really know about a person because you are not that person.  Even if the other person is making no attempt to "hide" things, people are so complicated that you can never fully know someone else.  I'm not sure you can even fully know yourself - but that's another question.

  4. We live a lifetime and don't even know ourselves, We are too intricate as individuals to be expected to really know others.
