Do you think that there is something wrong with a male being a kindergarten or 1st grade teacher?

I am a male and I am going to college to be a elementary school teacher. I am doing my practice teaching and I am in kindergarten. I love the children and the children like me. We have lots of fun and they really seem to be learning. My Best friend says that a male being a kindergarten teacher is abnormal. I guess what I'm saying is, If the kids are learning and enjoying it, is there anything wrong with it. I love what I am doing. I truly believe that I can make a big difference in the students lives. What do you think?

I teach 1st grade.  I originally taught middle school grades 6-8, but was placed in 1st grade last year.  I would not have picked it, but now I hope I can stay their.  I work in the inner-city.  I am the only male figure that most of these children see on a daily basis, sadly enough.

I am a guy first grade teacher, I thought it was wierd at first but now I think it's my calling.
