Do you think that this Year Federer will lose the No.1 ?

Well, personally i think he will. He started the season poorly, not winning the AO 08, 1st round lost in Dubai, lost to Roddick in Miami and Fish at Indian Wells. Plus, i dont think he is able to defend his points at the 3 other slams.

Whats your opinion ?

  1. i think by the year end rafa will take over him, so yes he is gonna lose it.

  2. No.

I'd like to see him break every single record there is.  He is our Michael Jordan, he is tennis' Tiger Woods. We should be proud to have a genius tha even non-tennis fans appreciate.

  3. I don't know!! it looks like Nadal's creepin up there too with beating Federer recently!

  4. It looks more possible than other years but he always suprises people. You said he didn;t win the AO but he will be favourite for Wimbledon and US open and may even win at RG this year. He has started the year poorly and needs to improve to maintain his number one spot. I think he may loose it though.

  5. No way! Roger is working himself back into form and he's ready reclaim his power over the ATP tour. He will never lose that number 1 ranking because he's worked his cute butt off to get it and to keep it. Federer is  and he's going to rule forever! He's also going to win the remaining grandslams and breaks the Sampras record. GO FED!

  6. HOPEFULLY.... I am son sick of looking at the rankings and yet he is still number 1... retire already!! I am rooting for Nadal!!!

  7. Yes, I think he probably will lose the #1 ranking this year.

  8. Rafa and Djoko had all the time in the world to move up to Roger, because Roger lost in almost every tournament this year, except for Estoril. They failed to take advantage of this fact  and also,Roger also participated in fewer tournaments than Rafa and Djoko. Now that Roger is feeling much better and getting back to his old self, he is not going to lose his position. He will just have to work harder to maintain his position and he scores way high than other people as well as hard work is concerned. Roger is, was, and will be no.1 for quite sometime. Go Rogi !

  9. i don't think so, he still has the ability to win grandslams and masters series. rafa and nole still can't dominate him on grass and hardcourts so they can't dethrone fed...

  10. Actually I agree with you, I do too think he will loose his no#1 ranking.

But also don't forget that Federer has won over 10 Grand slams which is amazing! But though your right, he did start the year poorly by not winning 08 Australian Open.

I think he is vulnerable to get crushed here but it is a random pick.

    Phil.

  11. i hope so.  he's in the record books, so its time for someone else to be #1 for a little while like roddick or nadal.  i still think federer has a number of years left to play in the game, but i think someone else should be #1 for a while

  12. I think now Federer will still be No.1 this year. Because he is starting to play really well again, as you saw at monte-carlo.

The gap between Federer and Nadal is now over 1000, and not long ago it was just 300 points.

I think he will defend wimbledon, and maybe the US Open this year.

    GO ROGER!!

  13. nope, i think he still no 1, ...just ...wait the moment will come soon...it's my personal opinion

  14. Well, facing the facts for now he's more than a 1000 points ahead of world No2 Rafael Nadal, which means that he could skip 2 tournaments of the master series or even a Grand Slam tournament and still be No1.

It's obvious that he's bored or sth and lacks both motivation and preparation, that is why his performance is uncomparable to the previous years'.But he has plenty of time to hold his position by simply doing "good, but not impressing".Probably if gets defeated several more times he would start craving for victory and long practices and get in the shape he has lost.Otherwise Rafa and nole will gradually reach him and pass him in the ranking, may be even this year.

  15. i think what ever he lose points he will earn it back i don't think  there is any player like him and i hope he will stay no1

  16. he's going down in the rankings... hope nadal will go to the #1 spot... if can't defend all his points especially in the 3 slams this year... he will definitely go down....

  17. I'm going Djokevic next No 1.

  18. don't think so..... only if Nadal wins wimbledon against someone else besides Federer....

what about djokovic's chances (in this year)? definitely NONE

  19. I think he may lose but I hope he doesn't.

He has shown sign of catching up recently. Probably due to the new coach. What goes up must come down eventually. The question here is when? Is it this year or next year?

  20. No...I think that he'll retain his ranking.

  21. Yes. Nalbandian is the next number one.

  22. no
