I did not get enough responses last time to this, so please everyone post your opinion.

That is a link to a play-pen type thing for my very small 4 month old pomeranian. Just a few questions about it.

1) I already have a crate, should i stick with the crate, and not buy this?

2) If i do get this should i put the crate inside this for the puppy to have somewhere to sleep?

3)Does it look sturdy to you?

4) Have you ever bought something like this for your puppy, if so, did it work well?

5) Do you think my puppy will still be able to use it when grown?? (again, he is a pomeranian, and at 4 months he still weighs about 3 pounds.

6) Do poms like to climb?

7) Do you think that this is big enough?

Thanks in advance.

Please check back, after you write, because i post additional comments, asking further detail or comments!

Thanks

  1. Link doesnt work

Edit: The new link works.  The cage looks sturdy and safe, but small for a play pen.  I would look around at some others and if you can't find any ones you like better, then go with that one.  Just make you look around, even try going to a store.  They always look different in person than an online picture!

  2. I would prefer this play pen idea to a crate.  All my animals have crates, but the doors are only closed during transport.

My Pom doesn't climb but he can jump (bounce).

The only time I ever used a play pen is when I was without a fence.  So I would only suggest a play pen if you do not have access to a fenced area.  Mine has been disassembled and is now used to cover large holes in fence line.

The one you chose will only be large enough for  a Puppy...he will need a larger area when he grows.  Or just purchase a second pen or additional panels as the need arises.

  3. That;s more like an x=pen, a portable pen that you use to contain your puppy, not just for sleeping - she still needs a crate.

We use a folding plastic x-pen when we travel, you can put your dogs in it outside.   I also use it when I get a new dog in (I foster) to keep the dog separated from my resident dogs.   That way they can sniff each other but not get at each other at first.

Get a folding x-pen, much more practical - you can take it anywhere and set it up in seconds so your dog can be safe.

Poms can't climb x-pens, wouldn't even worry about that.

When I got my first 2 dachshund puppies, I used a mesh playpen to keep them contained - they ate right through the mesh and got over the top once they were a few months old.   Plastic or metal x-pens are much sturdier and safer.

  4. If you want a Pen Type enclosure, then go with a X-Pen http://www.petproductdepot.net/Gold-Seri...

    Plastic breeds bacteria.

  5. The link isn't currently functioning, but for a crate you want something sturdy, big enough to do a 360 turn in but not so big that your puppy will find a "nest" to relieve himself in. Go to your local petshop and they should be able to help you out more than me.

  6. Sorry the site you gave doesn't work!

    x*x

  7. link doesnt work...try again maybe

  8. Sorry guy but your link didn't work.

My mother's pomeranian is about two years old now. She's is a very hyper dog sometimes. Loves to run around and jump on the couch real fast then jump down etc.

    Hope that helped some.
