  1. From the American heritage dictionary, sub·ver·sive (səb-vûr'sÄv, -zÄv)

adj.   Intended or serving to subvert, especially intended to overthrow or undermine an established government: "s*x and creativity are often seen by dictators as subversive activities" (Erica Jong).

Colleges and Universities are training grounds for tomorrow's leaders. The ultimate goal of learning anything in college is to be able to someday use what you have learned to make a positive difference, either in your bank account or in the world itself. Unless you honestly believe we are living in an Utopian society, then you have to believe that things can always be better for mankind in general, and your personal bank account in specific. In order to do this, you must be willing to "subvert" the current people in charge in order to take charge, show them the error in their ways, and proceed to make a difference.

Colleges and Universities teach our youth how to challenge the system, think outside the established rule, while still taking the knowledge gained from lessons learned in the past, in order to make the world a better place, or their wallets fatter.

Is it good or bad? It depends on your view of where society as a whole is headed. I personally am stockpiling weapons and ammunition for Armageddon.
