Do you think that we filipinos need to work to achieve more?

on what i have seen filipino people are very hardworking. i think the problem stands in the political system which involves a lot of corruption

Also Filipinos need to get away with the colonial mentality attitude.  It kills the local industry with all those imported products that Filipinos are patronizing at.

I believe that corruption is the biggest hindrance to our nation...unfortunately every time some other nation/charity helps by giving money to help build it up, most of the time it ends up being split amongst the politicians and/or the "higher authorities".  This whole process does not help those who need it. A great way to help would be through volunteering. My japanese friend volunteered a great amount of time to help out in Cebu.  The people who need the help actually receive it. (Could end up being a little dangerous though considering how bad the economy is) In general, the people in the Philippines are really hard-working compared to the majority of "Americanized-Filipinos" here in the United States. (I, sadly, am one of them too)  The people are hard-working if given a chance to go finish school....but many cannot afford that....how sad....I believe volunteer work is the best answer considering that it will be a big challenge (and seemingly almost impossible) to change the ways and minds of the "higher and richer people there". And still yet, we can also just keep supporting our relatives who are there and give them tuition to go continue school and clothing (if you have the resources). That way we can give those who want a chance at bettering themselves a....chance.

Also they need to get out of the capitalist model. But working more won't hurt.
