  1. it's not only the human beings playing part of this. nature too has a way of its own in 'cleaning' itself..

  2. Several of the endangered species have made a comeback (Bald Eagle, Flying Squirrel, Grizzly to name just a few).  Smog in many US cities is decreasing (old enough to remember some really bad smoggy summers in Denver and LA).  I'd say we're making strides on many levels toward improving the earth.

Yeah, there are still things to work on.  But it's not all doom and gloom.

Not sure why this question is in the Astronomy/Space category.

  3. No.

my opinion? I hear that c**p mainly from pony tail wearing sociology profs and black wearing whiny emo goth types.

  4. I think what that other guy thinks. We will make it with technology and that will be the end of it..We are making it the way we feel fit to make it. we are a deseasen this universe.and i think we are never going away at the rate are technology is going.. a few thousand years look where w have gotten.in a hundred!...that is like seonds to the universe...we will spread like a virus. by the time soemthing could detroy us..we will have the technology to stop yet..better yet we wont alway be on this world..so whats one world? when we are on hundreds>>see what im saying

  5. in my own opinion its yes (argh!)

  6. Earth is the only place where species exist in the Solar System. If man wants to destroy himself you cannot do much about it unless you destroy him first. Are you proposing to do something about it. If not the question seems pointless

  7.   Men will never destroy earth but they will eventually destroy themselves, when they go the world will return to normal

  8. I'm conflicted. Data shows that the Earth constantly goes through big heat waves before an ice age happens. On the other hand what if we are doing some damage. In the end I think and hope that Mother nature will take care of us and her!

  9. Yeh probably

  10. Meh who cares.  By the time we get ourselves fully screwed over our level of technology will be sufficient enough to wholly replace every aspect of our humanity anyway.

Can't wait until our robot overlords rise up and take over!

  11. Man does not have the ability, even on our best day, of destroying the earth.

Destroying many many humans? Absolutely.  Making the climate so extreme that modern civilization collapses? Yeah, maybe.  But even if we self extinguished all human life somehow, life itself, and the earth, would go on.

So no, we are not in danger of destroying all species in the solar system.  Just maybe the only one which can worry about it.

  12. heck yeah, if we don't do something about it anyway.

Our technology advancement though has been somewhere discouraging. We are polluting the planet faster and most of our tehcnology advancement isn't to fix that.

Maybe one day we'll colonized other planet, although right now, it doesn't seems like we'll be able to advance that far
