  1. Definitly racist!

  2. No-one really knows the starting point of the riots but I do believe that even if the foundations were racially motivated, most of the young australians that were there didn't even know why they were there. It was an excuse to drink and of course the alcohol fuelled ridiculous behaviour and so began the riots. I was ashamed of being Aussie at that time and although I understand where alot of the frustration came from, it was un australian to gang up on people like that. For all u who don't know the full story, there was more to it than white guys thinking Lebanese boys were hitting on their girls....

  3. Are you kidding? They were racially motivated, because some white Aussie boys thought Lebanese guys were trying to make out with white girls.

Maybe something else was going on. You tell me.

  4. dah

  5. It started off with an attack on a Austrian lifeguard but moved quickly to race. From what I understand there was already bad blood between the two sides.  There were people who said the Lebanese gangs had been harassing people on the beach.  I wasn't there so I really don't know.

  6. racially motivated. the footage was all over the news - "go back to your own country" etc. and they were attacking dark-skinned people on the bus, people minding their own business.
