  1. No, give them a second chance. if they do it again, them i will say "name them"

  2. Absolutely, cheaters never win and their personnel health has to be a concern. Just check out all the professional wrestlers that have had problems with "roid rage" and how it has done them in. A few have died--Sherri Martel, Chris Benoit, and now Brian Adams (Crush)--just in the last few months. Barry Bonds is a daily story. Floyd Landis and all the other suspected drug and EPO cheats in cycling are a story. Justin Charles of Richmond never played much again after he tested positive a few years back. Recreational drugs or PED need to be out of all sports and the players need to be outed.

  3. I think they should, but I understand why they haven't. If they dont release the list it puts a cloud over the whole afl. If they do you end up with a massive list of childrens hero's all convicted of being drug cheats. Nobody really wins either way.

Maybe they dont publish the list, but the 24 players are fined 20% of their next years salary. That money should go directly into more drug testing and education.

  4. Na, otherwise West Coast would be in even more trouble LOL Seriously what goes on out in the West these days?

  5. MOLLY id say name any player found guilty of using performance enhancing drugs, the same as they do in any other sport and give them the appropriate bans as this sort of drug taking is flat out cheating and un-acceptable.

Where recreational drugs are concerned maybe give them a second chance, although saying that i wouldn't get a second chance when it comes to my job,Players do have a lot more temptation, money, celebrity status  than your average jo blow,so MAYBE? a second chance MAYBE? but definately after 1 chance-see you later, out the door.

e.g if Ben cousins slipped up again then id say good by football career

  6. Great question so many varied responses.

I tend to agree with those saying NO.

They've been caught, rerimanded, fined all the things that go with it. I don't agree with drugs in sport, but once the afl and the team has penalised the player, surely public humiliation isn't called for.

  7. Yes I agree with name and shame. PEDs are nothing to do with alcohol and recreational drugs. PEDs are cheating, plain and simple.

I don't believe in this 'second chance' nonsense because if an AFL player does return a positive result from random testing then it would be a safe bet that the player has been getting away with it up until that point and it is not likely to be a 'one off'.

In any case swimmers, cyclists, weightlifters etc don't get second chances. AFL has the weakest drugs testing program and it is time for change to clean it up.

I wouldn't put anyone on the list without proof but I would guess that taking PEDs would depend more on an individual's level of injury more than what footy club he is with.

  8. No I think its wrong to name the players. Yes they have done wrong, they are a shame, they are a digrace, but it would be wrong to put their families and friends to shame and heartache as well.

  9. no as all the west coast and sydney players would be out and the afl wouldn't be able to give them another GF

  10. I don't know that naming would help and would certainly harm the game we love. I think they should be subjected to compulsory testing every week though and 2 strikes you're out.

There are some very bitter people out there whose teams are under achievers and who assume that teams that perform well are the ones doing the drugs, but that is simply sour grapes.

  11. I think that alcohol is of much greater concern than the "rec" drugs they are testing and busting them for.I don't condone either but I really think alcohol should also be a banned substance.

I can't understand why the football clubs and even the government are so in denial about this.

There are sporting events that are sponsored by beer companies. That is so double standards it is a joke.

What type of message does that send to kids.

A mixed up one that is a joke,so no one takes it seriously.

Why should they when it is so obviously double standard?

Alcohol; is the real enemy of our society and yet it is so acceptable socially.

Alcohol kills more people and ruins more lives than all the other drugs put together.

Yet in general its use is condoned and even encouraged.

It is also ludicrous to ban cigarettes in a hotel or club and serve alcohol.

I think they should be certainly be named if they have been busted for using banned substances.Because they are professionals and that makes their public behaviour their responsibility.

But I would also like to see a pi*sed list up there as well.
