If they do not choke in the semis they are a chance - as they are in every WC but always seem to under achieve.

I have said for some time that New Zealand will win the World Cup and having seen the first four matches, my view is only stronger.

The only question is who will to runners-up to South Africa in the pool section - my money is on Samoa.

This time and like 1987 they deserve the title of the best team in the world and being considered to be the genuine tournament favourites.

1987 Rugby World Cup Champions.

1991 they were well past there best.  Beaten by eventual tournament Champions Australia.

1995, the previous year they lost five in a row and it was just amazing that they got into the finals.  Beaten by Champions South Africa.

1999 outgunned by France

2003 one bad pass and beaten by Australia.

2007 Rugby World Cup Champions.

I would love to see the All Blacks win. It would be that much better for 2011 if we were hosting the cup as defenders. Last nights game was a good match and an enthralling watch. Besides the score I think they showed superior skills, teamwork and planning compared to Italy. They are a tight squad so maybe they can overcome the burnout I fear. I could so see them doing brilliantly all the way through only to give it up in the last few games as our teams seem to do so often. I'll put that aside and resume my support though, I'd love to see them bring it home =)
