  1. No cause its  Environmental Disaster as it is and burns fuel like no other plane out there and uses old cold war technology.

  2. Good wiki article here.

The Antonov An-225 is commercially available for flying any over-sized payload due the unique size of its cargo deck. Currently there is only one aircraft operating but a second mothballed airframe is being reconditioned and is scheduled for completion around mid to late 2008.

Did you mean "back in production"?  I doubt it.  I would imagine it would cost billions to try and recreate the tooling for a specific-use aircraft.  Not enough market segment to justify.

  3. It will not be mass produced since there is no big market for the size of materials it transports. However a second one (which they started building at the beginning of the program, but stopped when the russian space shuttle program was abandoned) will be finished and put into service to take the load of the one in service.

  4. It has already been produced.

  5. If you're talking about something closer to mass production, it will never get there. The AN-225 was designed to be like out Shuttle Transport Aircraft. Like the Shuttle Transport, only a few would have been produced.

It is also enormously expensive (by Russian standards) to bring the plane into production. So not only will the AN-225 never make it to production, it also never was in production.

  6. Certaintly it wont. The Antonov AN-225 Miriya was designed and made for the soviet army in an arms race against the USA.It made its debut flight but since it was near the end of the cold war,the soviet union was ruining apart and financial problems kicked in.The project and production line simply officaially decline due to problems financially. Why it wont re-enter production is because the aircraft is going to cost the company billions of dollars to mass produce it.Secondly,it burn a lot of fuel in flight with its massive 6 engines. It will also cost some big money if the military decides to use it.There is one and the only one flying as a freighter.I saw it once at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.I tell you,it was so big that it parked beside a B747 and make it looked as if it was some B737.

  7. They only made one.  There aren't going to be any more.

  8. the an-225 is in production
