Most I'm sure will have seen the recent documentary by the BBC "Pedigree Dogs Exposed" - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00d4ljk/

Following the exposure of cruelty carried out by some of the top Crufts breeders and Breed Clubs. Should the BBC make a stand by not broadcasting coverage of Crufts until drastic changes have been made?

  1. Crufts should have been boycotted a long time ago. The inbreeding curse is one which keeps coming to the forefront as breeders get more ruthless and competitive.

  2. I think it's worth a shot. The Kennel Club needs to look at itself too. I saw the programme and was disgusted by their arrogant attitude and total lack of morals concerning animal welfare.It's their so called standards that breeders go by. I used to breed Border Terriers and used to show them locally. They would never have been eligible for a Kennel Club show as they did not conform to their standards. I bred them to their original standard and that was not what they were looking for. I prided myself on keeping the original lines of the original breed. I now own a German Shepherd. I was appalled at the deformity of the best in show that was shown. My wee one is more like the original and that's just how I like her to be. Unfortunately the Kennel Club is responsible for breeding standards and as such most breeds will never ever be how they used to be, in fact due to their intervention some breeds will become extinct.

    Wow I ranted on a wee bit there, sorry. I hate the Kennel Club with a passion, so, rant over now ! :}

  3. God i don't even want to read them.  We are meant to be a nation of animal lovers, these people make me sick to the stomach.

  4. I think you will find that they are in the minority not the majority it makes for good tv so why shouldn't they show crufts

  5. crufts is a dog mutilation display and should not be shown on tv.

  6. Wholeheartedly agree. The agony these dogs suffer is completely unnecessary.

  7. no, to breed a dog so that it is in pain is barbaric.

  8. well idont know about crufts  but they should stop charging the viewersa licence feefor all the rubbish and drivel they screen its abdominal tripe . also channels BBC3 and BBC4  were supposed to be specialist channels  not any more they shove any old nonsense on them as well . with all the channels on offer its still hard to find something worth watching on most nights.

  9. Crufts show is utterly tainted now. What is disgusting is the way the responsible Cruft officials are is offencive denial.

    BTW the Irish Kennel Club is also in denial;  closung ranks for this Judas industry

    The BBC should no longer air Crufts
