No other media outlet milks the federal government for money. It is not as though Global News depends on tax dollars. I'd rather my tax dollars went towards environmental causes, housing for the homeless and investment into business ventures that create jobs.

  1. Your dollars are paying for the idiotic advertising and the senseless repetitious drivel that passes for programs on commercial stations.

If it weren't for CBC, there would be no intelligent programs to watch. More important, there would be no really high quality radio programs, documentaries and unbiased news reports. Just take a look at the number of awards that CBC wins every year for exceptional programs.

CBC Radio is one of the things that holds Canada together because it is accessible to everyone and every part of the country is represented.

Edit   CBC - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, public radio and TV, a government owned corporation

  2. No. Its independence from advertising revenue is important in avoiding the dumbing-down seen on commercial channels.

  3. First and last of all, what is a CBC.

  4. Does Graham Norton need to be subsidized? He's great on BBC America!
