Do you think the Food Network needs an overhaul?

It's not a bad network, but Paula Deen, Iron Chef and all its spinoffs, Emeril, the 2 Dudes Catering, that Ham guy Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and Sandra Lee have got to go! The channel needs to return to its food roots and stop focusing on the snotty, gourmet scene. Cooking food is an art, and this channel has focused more on personalities than FOOD.

If anything, Paula Deen and Alton Brown are ANNOYING. I'd be happy if those 2 idiots left. Deen is a TOTAL fake and Brown is a SNOB. How did those 2 Dudes Catering guys get on? They are NASTY and totally unprofessional. UGH...I'm not eating anything they cater!

  1. I wish they would stick with the basics. i.e. Iron chef america (orig.) Unwrapped, 30 minute meals etc. "I liked Rachel Ray before she was cool" haha

  2. For the most part, I love the Food Network. The only thing, all those Iron Chef competitions are boring.

  3. I agree with you for the most part.  Food Network really has gone down the tubes.  I enjoy the original Iron Chef, I enjoy Good Eats (and I've learned a lot of really practical things I apply to my own cooking there), "Dinner Impossible" is okay (I like his way of thinking) and I do like the "Challenges" but that's about it.  $40/day is okay at best simply because it's good info to know when traveling (which I do a fair bit of).

There's nothing really to watch for anymore, I used to love learning things but I don't know what I'm supposed to learn from things like "Semi-Homemade" - how to open a Bisquick package?

  4. First of all I love Alton Brown and Paula can at least cook. I would call it the Rachel Ray network which is annoying. The food network thing that annoys me is the Naked Chef. Jamie Oliver is a nice enough guy, but his cooking is soooo plain. And the camera work! I don't want to see his nostril hairs, I just want to see the food...show the d**n food and stop shaking the camera!!

  5. I would like to see for once real food american families can eat paula is real and fixes things my kids will eat.But the rest fix things my kids arnet goingt o eat and things i havent heard of.Another thing is i wish they would take a family of six and do like 100 bucks for week feeding them to see if they can do it????

  6. Paula Deen:  good southern cooking (I don't care for her either, but if your from the south you can appreciate her style of cooking)

Emeril:  He's the one that carried Food Net. through the startup years until today.  I agree that he's on the high end when it comes to affordability of what he's making, but you know that going in.

    2 dudes:  haven't seen them

Alton Brown:  personality aside I think he gives some great information on Good Eats and I've really enjoyed his series on the road hitting all the diners and such

Giada:  uummmmm  Giada.  does she cook on the show?

Sandra Lee:  please, that's not the kind of ideas I'm looking for when I tune in

    I'll add a couple more:

Rachel Ray:  30 minute meals, usually inexpensive tasty meals for families that don't have a lot  of time to spend in the kitchen

Bobby Flay:  I grill 12 months out of the year, so his ideas are definitely welcome in my house.  His appreciation of FDNY is also a selling point for me since I'm a firefighter too.  some of his stuff is high dollar cooking, but you can take his recipes and apply it to cheaper cuts of meat.
