This topic seems to be a hot potato that our current Presidential Candidates are afraid to touch. What do you think it will take to pass any kind of immigration reform, and how long do you think it will take?

p.s. I'm writing an article for www.milehive.com on this topic. If you'd like to share your views for my article, please email me.

  1. McCain made a politically accurate revision about his own Immigration Bill.

He concedes that the border MUST be secured, before there is any further discussions on his co-sponsored Bill.  The delay has become painfully obvious these past 6 months, but I believe there is a renewed sense of urgency to get it completed. At least until they do, there will be no consideration of amnesty or any part of permitting illegals to remain in violation of our Laws.

  2. The presidential candidates don't touch it, along with Congress, because everyone wants to win elections.  No one is willing to take tough issues and attempt to settle them right now.

I predict it will be at least two years before we see anything come up for a vote in both houses of Congress.

  3. I think the only way is to clean out congress and the senate and re-elect people who guarantee to put and end  to visas, green cards and  "anchor baby" citizenship.

  4. No amnesty if that's what you were thinking, Americans are sick and tired of immigration problems and just want a secure nation.

  5. Well McCain co-wrote the McCain-Kennedy Immigration Reform Act in 2005 and he said a few months ago he wouln't even vote for his own bill anymore.

I think it is highly unlikely any substantial reform will take place if McCain wins.

  6. Right now the election has put paid to any kind of Immigration Bill. Both candidates support some sort of amnesty and the American public has nixed that by about 85-90 percent. A buddy of mine works in a US Senators office and his boss who supports amnesty got a real shock. According to my buddy the good Senator received more calls than for 9-11-01 and the percentage of do not support this bill has convinced the Senator if he votes yes on any Immigration bill it will be his retirement vote. Bad shock for the Senator! When his party leadership wanted him to sponsor one of the under the table bills he said not only no but h**l no. My constituency has spoken!
