  1. Isles suck. any coach going in there knows there a lame duck

  2. He's the least of their problems. Instead, they should fire their entire front office, cut half the players, and keep Nolan. He's about the only one with half a brain in the entire organization. That and DePietro are the ONLY reasons they don't finish in dead last place every year.

  3. Coaching change will not help the team

  4. I am pissed off. Nolan did the best he could with the players he was given. Nolan didn't make the Smythe trade. Nolan didn't allow over 150 goals to walk away during last season's free agency period and not replace those players. Nolan didn't trade down in this year's draft and pass on Luke Schenn or Filatov. Garth Snow is using Nolan as his scapegoat for his lousy decisions. They should have fired Garth Snow. He's just another idiot like Mike Milbury was.

  5. Agree with Ryan

  6. I'm not on the Islanders or even an Islanders fan so I can't really talk, but to me it looked like Nolan did what he could with a truly awful team.  So from an outsider looking in I'd say no he shouldn't have been fired.

  7. Agreed with Ryan. Paul Maurice is probably on a plane to New York as we speak.

  8. I don't think changing coaches is going to help the team.  But Nolan said that he had disagreements with management, and it was mutual that it was his time to leave.

  9. Coach:  You didn't give me enough talent.

GM:  You didn't use the talent you had correctly.

    Coach:  You're wrong.

    GM:  No, you're wrong.

    Coach:  No, you're wrong.

    GM:  You're fired.

It's just too bad for Nolan that it happened so late in the off-season that it'll be hard to find another job ... at least until December when the first coaches get the axe.
